Getting Around Munich
Munich has an excellent local public transportation system. Local transportation is multi-modal and you can travel via Bus, Tram, U-Bahn (Subway) and S-Bahn (Suburban Trains). Munich is divided into M+6 zones. The detailed zone, tariff and transportation mode maps are also available from MVV and MVG (local transport authority) on their websites and apps. Any disruptions and/or changes are also announced regularly.
How to reach the Venues
- Garching-Forchungszentrum (Venue for the conference) lies in Zone 2. It is connected by underground line U6.
- Munich Urban Coab (Venue for the Digital Twin Forum) lies in the M-Zone and can be accessed by various modes of public transport.
Tickets can be purchased according to the zones at the underground stations, train stations and in trams and buses, or as a Mobile ticket (Handy-ticket) from the DB App, MVG App, or MVV App.
Accommodation recommendations
The conference will take place in the week before the famous Oktoberfest. You may want to stay a week longer in Munich. In any case, we recommend booking your accommodation as early as possible. Possible options for accommodation in Munich can be found here.

Explore outside Munich
The Bavarian alps are readily reachable from Munich and are perfect for a day-trip. The Zugspitze (tallest peak in Germany) is just over an hour away from the city and so are a number of beautiful cities and castles.

Oktoberfest 2023 begins on 16th September 2023 (a few days after the conference ends) and is a must-visit.
